Fishing experience:
I have been fishing since the age of 4 (43years
of fishing).  I grew up in Webster, SD, South
Dakota's glacial lakes region, where I waded miles
of shorelines fishing for walleye, white bass,
northern pike or anything else that would bite.  I
am fortunate that my father loves the outdoors
as much as I do.  He seemed to always make time
for me and started my passion for fishing and
hunting as I tagged along at a very early age.

Fourteen years ago, my wife and I moved
to Mobridge.  The water was a huge draw for us
as we had spent several weekends here for eight
summers prior to moving.  The lake still has
its allure and I / we fish as often as time allows.

Guiding experience:
I have taken people fishing on Lake Oahe over
the past 16 years.  My first trips to the lake took
    place i
n 1989, and I've fished the lake through
periods of high water and low water.

Tournament experience:
I fish several tournaments every summer, ranging
from the SD/ND border on Lake Oahe to the
Akaska / Moreau River Area.  I fished 5 in 2006,
finishing in the top 10 in 4 of them; with a 2nd
being the best.  My best finish in 2007 was again
    a 2nd.

2009 started ok with a 40 out of 125 boats and
then a win in the Mobridge Chamber Tourney.
These tournaments have made me comfortable
fishing the entire upper 1/3rd of the reservoir.

Reef Runner crankbaits are a f
avorite
of mine and if we pull plugs they may
very well be one on the end of the line.

    Michigan Stinger Spoons
    Guide Staff
Trolling spoons work great on Oahe.
Check my weblog on the home page
for a write-up about my use of them.
They make a great one-two punch
    when combined with crankbaits.

Smack Tackle

    Guide Staff
These cranks are bass killers when the
fish are feeding on gizzard shad.
Why wouldn't they work on walleye?
I've used them and they work.  They
look great, run even better, are super
durable and best of all - they catch a
    lot of walleye.

Others:
I am a high school science teacher
    track coach for the Mobridge-Pollock
    school district.

In the spring of 2009 I had the idea to
teach fishing classes to kids and their
parents.  This has grown into a non-
    profit organization.
    "
Outdoors 101 Project" is now a 501c3
    non-profit organization and is growing
quickly, with high hopes for the
    future.

Hunting:
A few years ago I started calling
coyotes and find it to be a real
"hoot".  I don't get out as often as I'd
like and I still have a lot to learn.

I have been bowhunting since 1977
and am a member of the "Oahe
    Bowman", our local archery club.
Check out the photos page 2011 pics
to see the deer my kids and I have
    recently harvested.
